How to Set Up and Carry CoolOne for Outdoor Tasks
By OpenClip

Set up CoolOne by charging it through the USB-C input, choosing the waist clip, lanyard or folding stand for your task, and keeping the intake and upward-facing outlet clear. Check the position whenever you bend, sit or change layers. It is a personal fan that moves ambient air, not refrigerated air or a replacement for sensible hot-weather planning.
What comes with CoolOne?
CoolOne™ 3-in-1 Waist Fan with Flashlight & Powerbank combines a personal fan, built-in torch and USB power output in one portable unit. The current set includes:
- one CoolOne waist fan
- one adjustable lanyard
- one USB-A-to-USB-C charging cable
The fan has a single upward-facing outlet, built-in metal waist clip, folding stand, top-mounted button and display, USB-C charging input and separate USB-A power output. Orange, black, green and grey colour options are currently listed.
Charge it before the first outing
Use the included cable to connect CoolOne’s USB-C input to a compatible USB power source. The USB-A socket on the fan is an output for supplying a compatible device; it is not the charging input for CoolOne itself. Keeping those two ports straight avoids packing the right cable but connecting it to the wrong socket.
Charge in a dry, stable place and check the supplied instructions before first use. Do not leave the unit where soil, loose debris or water can enter an opening. If you plan to use the backup power output, pack the cable required by your phone or other compatible device separately—the included fan-charging cable may not match that device.
Choose the right carrying setup
CoolOne offers three practical positions. The best choice depends on what you are doing, what you are wearing and whether you need to move continuously.
Waist clip for hands-free tasks
Seat the metal clip fully over a supportive waistband or belt, then point the outlet upwards. A loose shirt can leave a path for air to move beneath the fabric. Keep the fan’s intake exposed and make sure clothing is not pressed across the outlet.
Before starting work, take a few normal steps, bend carefully and sit down once. If the fan shifts, catches or becomes covered, reposition it. Tight or tucked-in clothing can restrict the intended air path, so the waist position may not suit every outfit.
Lanyard when clipping is inconvenient
The adjustable lanyard provides another way to carry the unit. Adjust it so the fan sits securely and does not swing into tools, benches or other people. Keep the outlet and intake clear, and remove the lanyard if it could catch on equipment or vegetation. The lanyard is a carrying option; it does not turn the fan into protective equipment.
Folding stand for a fixed position
When you sit at a table or work in one place, unfold the stand and place the fan on a stable, level surface. Leave room around the intake and outlet. This position can suit a potting bench, campsite table or sheltered work surface where wearing the unit would be awkward.
A five-minute pre-task check
- Look over the housing. Check that the openings, clip and chosen carry point are clean and unobstructed.
- Choose the position. Clip it securely, adjust the lanyard or open the stand on a stable surface.
- Check the air path. Keep fabric, dust, leaves and loose items away from the intake and top outlet.
- Operate from the top controls. Use the top-mounted button and display as described in the supplied instructions.
- Move normally. Bend, reach or sit once before beginning so you can identify a poor fit early.
Repeat the position check when you change clothing layers or switch from standing to sitting. A setup that works while walking may block airflow when you lean against a chair.
Use the torch and power output deliberately
The built-in torch is intended for nearby illumination. It can be useful when finding an item at a camping table or packing up after the light changes, but it should not be treated as specialised emergency or worksite lighting.
For a compatible device top-up, connect the device’s cable to CoolOne’s USB-A output. Both the fan and power output draw from the same stored battery, so using one function affects the power available for the other. The current Shopify product information does not state a guaranteed phone charge, runtime or charging speed, so plan around access to your regular power source rather than assuming a particular result.
Where CoolOne can fit into an outdoor kit
CoolOne is designed for personal airflow during everyday activities such as gardening, tidying, camping or time outdoors. Pack it where the fan openings will not fill with soil or loose material. A small clean pouch or separate compartment can keep it away from wet towels, food spills and sharp tools.
For a campsite, keep the charging cable with your electronics rather than loose in a cooking box. If you are planning food and equipment together, the camping food-storage guide offers a separate checklist for keeping meals organised, while the portable ice-maker camping guide covers power and placement planning for IceOne.
Important limits to remember
CoolOne moves the surrounding air towards your body; it does not produce refrigerated air and does not cool an entire room. Personal airflow may make a task feel more comfortable, but it should not be used as evidence that conditions are safe. Follow local weather advice, workplace procedures and activity-specific guidance, and stop if conditions or your wellbeing make continuing unwise.
Keep the product dry unless the supplied instructions explicitly state otherwise. Do not block openings, insert objects into the fan, or use a damaged cable. Around children, tools or moving machinery, store and operate the unit with appropriate supervision and clearance.
Frequently asked questions
Which port charges CoolOne?
CoolOne recharges through its USB-C input using the included USB-A-to-USB-C cable and a compatible USB power source. The separate USB-A socket on the fan is an output for a compatible device.
Can I use CoolOne without clipping it to my waist?
Yes. The included adjustable lanyard provides another carrying option, and the folding stand allows tabletop use on a stable surface with the intake and outlet clear.
What clothing works with the waist clip?
A supportive waistband or belt gives the clip a secure attachment point. A loose shirt can leave space for upward airflow. Tight or tucked-in clothing may restrict that path, so check the position before beginning.
Does CoolOne cool a room?
No. CoolOne is a personal fan that moves ambient air towards the wearer. It does not create refrigerated air or provide whole-room cooling.
Can the power-bank output charge a whole phone?
The USB-A output can supply a compatible device, but the current Shopify product information does not promise a particular phone charge, runtime or charging speed. Results depend on the connected device and remaining battery.
Start with a secure, clear setup
The useful routine is simple: charge through USB-C, choose the carry position that matches the task, keep the air path open and recheck the fit as you move. Use the torch and USB output as supporting functions, not unverified promises. See the current colours, included items and specifications on the CoolOne product page.
